Be fearful of mediocrity

Eram la piscină și mă uitam cu admirație la ușurința cu care săreau unii în apa adâncă de 2m.

Îmi doream și eu să sar, dar îmi era frică. Skillurile mele de înotător mi-ar fi permis să sar, eram convinsă că nu mă voi îneca... Pur și simplu îmi era frică.

Am zăbovit pe marginea piscinei, uitându-mă la apă, minute în șir. Soțul meu se ruga de mine să sar și mă asigura că nu voi păți nimic, pentru ca el ar fi sărit odată cu mine...

Simțeam lumea din jur holbandu-se la mine, dorindu-și parcă să mă vadă că sar... 

Simțeam că aș fi îndeplinit dorința ascunsă și a altora din sala respectivă... făcând acea săritură...

Ei bine... Ce credeți? Am sărit sau nu am sărit?

July - daily outfits

I successfully managed to check the 23 working days of July with an outfit, and the ones you are seeing in this post are a selection of the most appreciated ones. It's interesting to look behind and realize, if necessary, that simple is the keyword to describe my style.
Every day I did my best to show an original outfit, but at the same time to reuse items of clothing.

If I were to do a list with all the items of clothing which I consider basic, I would say:
- white shirt,
- white t-shirt,
- navy t-shirt,
- at least one colored top: red, blue,
- at least one printed top: abstract, floral,
- black straight/slim leg trousers

Wedding season

Every time I need to attend a wedding the questions start popping in my mind:
What dress to wear? With what accessories? How should I style my hair? What kind of make-up should I put on?

I don't attend to often special events and when an opportunity like that occurs, I embrace it because it gives me the chance to wear more spectacular outfits than in day to day life.

I have the dress from the pictures for almost a year now. I bought it for another wedding, but I couldn't attend that wedding any more so I kept it with the label on, until now. To be honest, I consider the dress to be some kind of barometer for the way I look... meaning that... from time to time I dress with it to check how I look. If I don't like the way I look when wearing the dress, then I start loosing weight again.

The sandals are a sin I committed 15 hours before attending the wedding. I really wanted something comfortable and in order to achieve that I spent 50 Euro. I'm sure that if I would have thought about this a week earlier I would have spent at the most 25 Euro on some similar ones... It doesn't matter now because they really were comfortable. They were a good acquisition.

I really wanted to do something special with my hair, not to fancy or complicated, but my usual hair stylist was booked on that particular day, so I decided to keep it natural.
I said it in the past and I will repeat it once again. Nowadays, having a good hair-stylist is almost as important as having a good doctor. If you find the person who knows what to do with your hair you need to keep it with your teeth.

The make-up is another story. I'm no make-up artist, but there are few chances to do something and not like it. That is why I usually prefer to keep the manicure, pedicure and make-up to myself. I've been doing it since I was a teenager and I will continue to do it as long as I live.

I'm the kind of person who has the capacity to ruin herself the day, since early in the morning. And you must know that I don't have to insist very much in order to manage that. It's pretty easy for me!

I was telling you at some point that in order to get to the place I work, I have to travel every day 60km both ways. The road is relatively easy, with few obstacles or traffic jams. That is why I have some time for thinking and introspection.

One day, during the thinking, I remembered a meeting I had. Most of the meetings I attend, require that I speak English. There are days when I speak so much English at work, that when I get at home at night and want to buy some bread, it feels more natural to ask it in English than in Romanian.

I think of myself as a good connoisseur of the English language, but not even half as good as I would like to be. One thing is sure... I try hard to be as fluent as I can be and not to do flagrant mistakes.

But... back to the main topic...
What I remembered was that I wanted to say at some point "gentlemen and ladies" and instead I said "gentlemen and gentlewomen".

First thing... is there a good English connoisseur among my readers who could tell me if what I said is accepted on any planet?
Second thing.... How do you react at the involuntary vocabulary/grammar mistakes of the people with whom you interact? Do you feel like laughing? Do you overlook them? Do you correct them?

The thought, that the people who heard me saying "gentlemen and gentlewomen", rolled with laughter, is hunting me.  And the thing that frustrates me the most is that I knew how to say it correctly and I didn't remember it then, when I should have, but 24 hours later...

Fields of Gold

I'm sure many of you are anxious to know how went the first week at the new job. Well... it went great! The new colleagues are really helpful and they are doing their best to make my integration as easy as possible.

In the previous post, someone asked me what is my job... and the answer is, in case there are other persons who don't know yet... an IT project manager. This is what I was until a week ago in a small local company and this is what I am now, but at a much bigger scale, in a multinational corporation. I admit with all the sincerity that I still have many things to learn, but I'm not afraid at all, because this is exactly what I had in mind when applying for the job...

I will be very busy in the coming period, but I will do my best to come here on the blog as often as possible, because it's one of my greatest passions and I haven't given up on growing it more and more... so please... bare with me.

Now... about the canola field... If you would ask me, whether you are a blogger or not, the canola field shooting it's a must! Every photo you take in a canola field has the potential of becoming a work of art and I, for one, wouldn't miss it for the world. And not only because of that, but also because I consider it to be a form of therapy. :)

Do you know how happiness feels?

Did you ever have a moment in your life when you felt happiness through every fiber of your body? Attention... I'm not talking about joy, I'm talking about HAPPINESS. That moment when you put your hands together, like in prayer, and the only things you feel like doing is look at the sky and thank God.

I felt it on 2nd of April and it was the biggest sensation ever.

You feel a warmth that invades your body, your knees soften, your flesh begins trembling and for a  moment you feel that you are going to faint. But you don't, you enter in a surreal state of float as if you were in another world. You move left, you move right, but you do it mechanically, the brain can only process the news that you got and which caused this state of bliss. It's unreal, it's spectacular, it's unique.

Currently, I can't tell you what caused this state, but I promise that I will soon. Nonetheless, I will leave you with some clues about it:

Trend alert - ripped jeans

Ripped jeans became a popular trend in the 80's. Now, 24 years later, they are still a popular trend...
It was a time in my life when I didn't have the courage to wear such jeans because I believed that they didn't represent me. Now, I have 5 pairs of ripped jeans (long and short) and I would wear them every day, if I could.
They are so versatile and can be included in so many combinations... after all, they are jeans.

How do you feel about wearing them? Are you afraid people might think less of you if you wear ripped jeans?

Concluziile zilelor de tăcere...

Trebuie să încerci înainte să renunţi...
Nu poți să fii într-o relație de prietenie cu cineva care îți este în subordine, vei înceta să mai fii obiectiv și vei avea tendința să faci mai des concesii... asta nu înseamnă că nu poţi fi într-o relaţie decentă...
Perioadele de criză au tendința să scoată din noi fețe despre care poate nu am fi crezut vreodată că există...
Vorbitul pe la colţuri nu face cinste nimănui...
Există monştri la crearea cărora ai contribuit şi tu...
Unele lucruri trebuie să rămână nerezolvate... avem nevoie de puţină dramă în viaţă...
Vorbele nu au nicio valoare dacă nu sunt susţinute de fapte...
Unele persoane au capacitatea fantastică să susţină discursuri măreţe despre cinste şi corectitudine, dar care din păcate sunt doar discursuri...
Nu poţi fi pe placul tuturor oamenilor din jurul tău şi nici nu trebuie să încerci vreodată acest lucru...
Singura persoană pe care trebuie să o mulţumeşti în viaţă şi de care trebuie să-ţi fie teamă eşti... TU...
Viaţa este o aventură şi trebuie trăită ca atare... nu de alta, dar avem una singură...
Anul 2013 a fost cel mai greu, cel mai intens și mai calitativ an pe care l-am trăit, din toţi cei aproape 30 pe care i-am adunat până acum... sper să nu mă grăbesc cu această afirmație, pentru că mai e ceva până la finele lui...

Things need to be told...

În viaţă, trecem prin experienţe, despre care rămânem cu impresia că parcă au rămas nerezolvate...
Timpul le "rezolvă" cumva... în sensul că ne ajută să le depozităm undeva printr-un sertar al minţii pe care îl închidem cu cheia, însă... cheia ne rămâne permanent ataşată la breloc... if you know what I mean...

Cum tratează fiecare din noi aceste situaţii, aşa-zis nerezolvate, depinde de la caz la caz şi de-a lungul timpului chiar am realizat că unele lucruri chiar e mai bine aşa... să rămână nerezolvate...
Cu toate acestea chiar cred că este foarte important să nu ne mințim totuși. DEMONII RĂMÂN DEMONI şi mai devreme sau mai târziu vor avea tendinţa să se întoarcă împotriva noastră.

Da ştiu... sunt enigmatică... but I have a point and my point is... experienţele care au rezolvare trebuie rezolvate. Sertarul trebuie golit pentru a putea fi folosit ca depozitar pentru alte experienţe frumoase.
În această ordine de idei... vă încurajez să aveţi COJONES (cea mai bună traducere pe care o puteam găsi), SĂ SPUNEŢI LUCRURILOR PE NUME în direcţia rezolvării lor căci... apropo-urile nu rezolvă nimic, iar supoziţiile, de cele mai multe ori eronate, vă vor adânci în abisul lor și VĂ VOR CONSUMA până la ultima răsuflare...

Disclaimer: sfaturile mele nu trebuie luate cu titlu definitoriu şi nu voi accepta să fiu trasă la răspundere pentru consecinţele aplicării acestora în viaţa nimănui. Cu toate acestea ele (sfaturile) descriu best practice-ul existenţei mele, pe care aş îndrăzni să-l cataloghez... cel puţin complicat, dacă nu chiar păţit. Am zis!

Să vorbim despre cumpărăturile online (only for romanian readers)

Încerc să scriu acest articol de ceva timp, dar din păcate nu am reușit acest lucru până acum.
Ideea articolului mi-a venit uitându-mă la traficul care vine din Google, la mine pe blog.
Se pare că există lume care se întreabă de unde să cumpere haine online. M-am gândit că ar fi bine să vin în ajutorul acestor persoane povestind despre experiența mea în acest sens.

Când vine vorba de cumpărături pe site-urile românești, nu cred că mai este un secret pentru cei care mă citesc cu regularitate, că miniPrix.ro remains The One. Indiferent de orice mi s-ar spune, eu am găsit acolo adevărate comori și haine mult mai calitative decât am avut șansa să văd la multe branduri sonore. Cred că am făcut anul acesta cel puțin 30 de comenzi pe miniPrix și... anul încă nu s-a terminat. Menționez că peste 90% din comenzi le-am făcut la reducere.
Îmi place că miniPrix oferă transport gratis la o comandă minimă de 100 de lei și poți returna gratuit toate produsele fără să oferi o justificare pentru a face acest lucru. Îmi place de asemenea că dau detalii de mărime pentru fiecare piesă purtată de model, lucru care ajută la o identificare mai bună a mărimii pe care ar trebui să și-o cumpere clientul. E drept că se întâmplă ca uneori aceste detalii să fie eronate, dar pentru asta există returul...

Al doilea site românesc ca frecvență a comenzilor din partea mea este kurtmann.ro. E drept că nu am făcut mai mult de 4 comenzi la ei în decursul ultimului an.
Cel mai mult îmi place că aceștia precizează brandul hainelor și că au o diversificare a produselor mai mare, în comparație cu miniPrix. Cu toate acestea, hainele sunt mai scumpe, nu au detalii de mărime, iar transportul este gratuit doar dacă comanda minimă de 190 de lei. Aceste trei aspecte nu sunt tocmai plăcute. 
Și aici returul este gratuit.

Singurul site românesc de pe care am mai comandat încălțăminte este dEpurtat.ro. Am comandat o singură dată și pot spune că a fost ok.
Cei de la dEpurtat impun o comandă de minim de 190 de lei pentru a beneficia de transport gratis și în privința returului sunt cam pretențioși, în sensul că sunt dispuși să-ți dea banii înapoi, dar plătești transportul de retur.

Nu pot încheia acest articol fără să vă fac și recomandări internaționale.
Prima pe listă este este asos.com. Am făcut mai multe comenzi și niciodată nu au fost probleme.
Sunt sigură că știți că au transport gratuit la orice comandă, iar plata se face în avans. Eu plătesc prin intermediul PayPal, fără să fi avut vreodată probleme.
Dacă doriți mai multe informații depre ce reprezintă PayPal și cum să vă faceți un cont, puteți să-mi scrieți în mesaje și voi răspunde cu mare plăcere.
Aș vrea să precizez că surorii mele i s-a întâmplat ca de două ori comanda să nu ajungă, dar a făcut o cerere și i-au returnat banii. În general, comenzile de la ASOS vin în aproximativ 2 săptămâni de la comandă, la poșta normală. Un sfat pe care vreau să-l dau în legătură cu ASOS, este să aveți foarte mare grijă la mărimi, căci nu se potrivesc. Încălțămintea este cel mai elocvent exemplu. Aici găsiți un articol scris de mine în legătură cu o astfel de comandă.

Un alt site internațional cu care am interacționat este newlook.com.
Am încercat de două ori să comand de pe New Look și m-am trezit că mi-au luat banii din cont, dar fără să se considere comanda finalizată. În ambele variante mi-am recuperat banii prin niște cereri la bancă, având ca dovadă prinscreen-ul cu mesajul de eroare, dar și extrasul de cont furnizat de PayPal. A treia oară nu-mi mai încerc norocul. Să-mi spuneți dacă voi ați avut probleme similare.

Ultimul site internațional despre care vroiam să vă povestesc este firmoo.com.
Și pe acesta sunt convinsă că îl cunoașteți, cel puțin dacă sunteți blogger. Am avut o colaborare cu ei și ulterior, fiind foarte mulțumită de produsele lor, am decis să-mi comand actuala pereche de ochelari. Ochelarii în sine nu au costat foarte mult pentru că i-am cumpărat la ofertă, dar am dat 28 de euro pe transport. Au venit din China, în 5 zile de la comandă, prin DHL, livrare la domiciliu și au corespuns din toate punctele de vedere cu ceea ce am sperat.

Seems that summer is officially over. I can't say I'm happy about it, but neither sad.

I have one more day of vacation. I will get back to work on Monday with fresh forces and revived... I dare to say.

During this vacation I rested, I walked, I had fun, I cooked, I spent time with my family, I did too much shopping ... in a word ... I did everything and to be honest it would have been a shame to be otherwise.

Nothing special

Sometimes I fall in love with certain pieces of clothing and wear them with greater frequency. You can find such an example in today's photos. The parts in question are the jeans and the shirt.

As a matter of fact ... the jeans are a conversion because the original ones I bought, couldn't be worn by me, as they were too short.

In the future I would like to wear the shirt and the jeans as in the combination created using Polyvore. The only drawback is that I have neither the boots nor the bag... That's okay, I will add them to my wishlist ...

The challenge - part I

I received enthusiastically my sister's challenge, fueled by Mira, to try to wear the same piece/pieces of clothing, but in the personal style of each one of us. Therefore, today you are witnessing part I of this challenge. The piece that will be the basis of every styling is this gorgeous lace dress, purchased from ASOS.
 
It may seem that we have kind of a competition going on here, but I assure you it's not. I don't think I have any chance to overcome this look, which also benefited from the best possible, most modest photographer in the world {me}.  

However, in my typical style, I will try myself to meet your expectations.
 
Aside from the slight irony of the written above, I can say that I fully enjoyed being on the other side of the camera, putting all my ideas into practice and targeting the best possible model, Mirela {just between us, if I ever lose my job, I would gladly choose a career as a photographer, instead}.

Back to routine

I usually don't like to talk about my outfits.
I'm sure everyone can look at the pictures without having to read some insignificant descriptions.
But this time, I want to share with you some details about the skirt I'm wearing:

1. belongs to my sister.
2. I gave it to her as a birthday present.
3. $ 50 of the skirt's value was assured by a voucher that I won.
4. I wore it 3 times, so far.
5. sister wore it once.

Although it is a great skirt is very difficult to wear. Is voluminous, you must be careful continually not to catch it somewhere. When you need to climb or descend stairs you risk to stumble and fall, if you are not careful. It keeps you very warm and can't be worn when outside are over 35 degrees Celsius.

Regardless of these shortcomings I love it and therefore I host it with love in my wardrobe.

The sun is shining again

I had a pretty bad Saturday, but starting Sunday the sun began to shine again. I realized, once again in my life, with the help of my dear ones, that even though things don't go very good sometimes, I have many reasons for not feeling down and for being grateful to live the life I have.

Life is full of beauty!
