Vintage & Second Hand

I happen to be lucky sometimes and get in possession of pieces of clothing that I simply love. In  today's outfit this statement is valid for both shirt and jacket.

The jacket is a vintage Hugo Boss. It was my mother's purchase from a SH shop and when I saw what was written on the label I politely insisted that it would look better in my wardrobe. Mothers always yield.

The jeans shirt belonged to my husband and he wore it when it was in trend, about 13 years ago. He had two and for quite some time they were lying hidden in the closet. Until one day, when I found them. I could not wear them just like that because they were too large, so I went to my cousin who is a
seamstress and made them on my size. They look extremely well (leaving modesty aside) and I assure you will see me wearing them again.

Poșetele ascunse de pe MiniPrix (only for romanian readers)

A mers!

Like, Love, Need, Want

Like - I don't know why, but I really like them and they have a very good price.
Love - sometimes the beautifulness of an outfit lies in the qualitative accessories.
Need - I recently discovered that jumping on a trampoline is a great way to lose some extra kilos.
Want - this not actually for me but for my son who even though he is a slow talker he is a technology maniac. The other day he used my iPhone to sent a video with him via Skype to his father who is currently abroad.

Blogger ambasador for ZorileStore.ro

Today I join the "Blogger Ambassador for ZorileStore.ro" competition  and as a person with principles I'm letting you know that this is obviously an advertising campaign which will involve writing some articles in theme.

This is one of those times when I'm glad I have a blog because by submitting a minimal effort I get a free product of my choice, which I will test / try and afterwards I will write about it.

Initially I was reluctant to sign up, but my friend Flori told me about the quality of their products and, in addition, I found these cool sneakers which totally convinced me it worth to try.

I start with enthusiasm on this road and I hope to keep it until the end.

10 tips for becoming a better blogger

1. post qualitative photos. I strongly believe this is the gold rule in blogging. If you don't have a good camera, buy one. There is nothing worse than a blog full of unfocused, bad light photos.
I personally have a semi-professional camera with two lenses (18-55mm and 55-200mm). It was a bit expensive, but totally worth it because I got rid of the unfocused photos stress.

2. post interesting photos: no one likes to see pictures of common stuff: plates of unaesthetic food, bags of grocery etc.

3. post decent photos: I've seen photos of hands with dirty nails, I've seen pictures of feet with 3 months nail polish on them (disgusting), I've seen pictures with girls who don't wear bras. It's nothing more interesting than seeing a girl's nipples through her blouse... I'm kidding!

4. use paragraphs when writing your article. Write an idea, leave a spare row, write another idea. Don't write 20 rows, or more, block of text. It's very hard to read such a text and the reader get's annoyed faster. I rarely read such texts.

5. don't overload your blog with useless links and banners. As with outfits, go with simple because you won't go wrong. Christmas tree blogs are a source of stress for the reader's eye and you don't want that.

6. don't post because you have to. Do it whenever you have something interesting to say. Don't worry because you haven't posted for 3 days. This is not a job, this is personal, fun activity and it should remain like that. I hate when I see bloggers excusing themselves for missing a few days. Most of the time readers don't even notice that, so why tell them yourself?

7. use simple, easy to read fonts, not to small and not to big, in appropriate colors.

8. don't sell your soul to the devil. Don't write on demand just to take part in a competition. This is not blogging, it's advertising. I was asked once to write a copy paste article, but I didn't agree. I won't lie my readers and I will not give up on my principles for some easy money.

9. inspire yourself from the BIG bloggers, IT'S FREE!!!

10. don't beg for followers. If you have something interesting to say you will be followed no matter what. I know many bloggers who don't have anything interesting to say, but they have hundreds of followers. How is that possible? If I had a nickel for every time I was told: Nice blog! Do you like to follow each other??? Let me know... I would be rich!

Some of my tips are harsh and I'm sorry for that, but it's the TRUTH and I simply can't lie! Hope you find them useful!

To be continued...

Problem: where to get ideas for our daily outfits?

Is it just me or are you girls having the same problem as me?

If you haven't come up with a solution by now here you have the solution I managed to come up.

Find a fashion blogger who has a similar figure with you and whose style you really like. Follow her. Whenever she posts an outfit you really like put the blog post into the bookmarks folder or into your blogroll or pin it.
In case you haven't heard until now, Pinterest is a tool that gives you the chance to pin all the pictures you like into the categories you like.
Take my example. I'm pinning all the outfits I like, while browsing through blogs, here.
If you really have time you can also find inspiration on Tumblr. Look at my tumblr page and you'll find my inspiring outfits.

I'm using Mozilla Firefox as a default browser so in order to pin photos to Pinterest or to Tumblr, I installed 2 add-ons to my browser (Pinterest add-on, Tumblr add-on).  It's very easy once you've installed these add-ons. Whenever you will right click on an image you will have both options to pin to Pinterest or to post to Tumblr.

Another source of inspiration is ASOS. They pay a lot of attention to the way they present their clothes because they want to bring the best out of them in order to sell them. I'm sure there is a specialized person behind all those outfit proposals and I trust it as a source of inspiration.

The outfit I'm wearing today is the result of such a source of inspiration. I saw it on ASOS and I instantly fell in love with it. I knew I had a similar pair of trousers, a denim shirt and a brown braided belt. If I hadn't seen the outfit on ASOS I wouldn't have thought about this combination.

Hope you find this post useful.

The unseen part of the pictures

Today I'm wearing one of those outfits that gives me a positive attitude from the moment I jump into clothes.
It would be great if every day started on a positive note and remained like that the entire day ... Well, that's not happening in the real world because:

1. the instant you pull your clothes on, your 3 years and a half child realizes you are going to work and he has no interest for that... The only thing he wants is his mother... That's why he literally attaches to her leg and screams from the bottom of his lungs, begging her not to leave... Depressing!
2. when you get to work, the freshly installed Windows 7 decides not to boot. Correction... decides to boot, but gets stuck at 15% because he has to configure an update... Awesome!
3. while attending a meeting at work, your husband, currently in Indonesia, finds a way to track you and asks for your help in a very important matter. Urgent!
4. while trying to help your husband, your boss comes and asks why you left the meeting, he needs your input in another important matter... Embarrassing!
5. after getting back from work you take your son to the speech therapist, which he hated at first, and when it comes the time to go back home he decides he likes it so much that he doesn't want to go home... Powerless!

Thank you for taking the time to read the unseen part of these pictures.

Bershka trousers GIVEAWAY

I can't know if you got rid of the snow, but I for sure did. I'm enjoying the warm weather of the Spring which gives me such a positive attitude. In my case, the positive attitude is also fueled by the way I dress... ya', I know, maybe I'm superficial...
Colorful outfits can do miracles to our psychic and, as you may have already noticed, I tend to wear them a lot these days.

When I bought these green trousers I had in my mind the combination below and I was very enthusiastic about it. Of course this enthusiasm disappeared when I received them and noticed they are to small for me. They didn't have another size in stock and I could have returned them, but an idea crossed my mind: why not offer them to YOU, my dear readers?

That being said, here I am, launching a new GIVEAWAY and all you have to do in order to win them is:
  1. Like me on Facebook.
  2. Like and share publicly this post on Facebook.
The GIVEAWAY is international and ends on 31st of March. The winner will be chosen randomly.

P.S. 1. The trousers are from Bershka and they are L size.
P.S. 2. The combination below was created using Polyvore and of course the items are a bit expensive, but I also found very qualitative alternatives and I listed them in case you might want to recreate the look.

Intelligent fashion shopper

I don't know what you really think when you look at my outfits. I hope you are sincere when writing your comments for me, but I can't really know for sure, do I? I'm only hoping you won't see in me that girl who has a very big budget to spend on clothes, because it would be totally wrong.
I would rather you would see me as an intelligent fashion shopper. Sounds fancy, but let me explain what it really means. It means that I see an item, I see it's potential and I purchase it at a minimum price.
To prove all this, I will tell you how I came into possession of the items from the combination I'm wearing below.

Top :: Orsay, bought on sale, for less than 8 euros.
Belt :: It's 23 years old and belonged to my mother... until I took it.
Skirt :: I got it at a clothing exchange event organized with my work colleagues... I was so lucky.
Bag :: bought at a ridiculous low price from here, of course on sale.
Necklace :: local store, a bit expensive... around 12 euros.
Leather boots :: also on sale, from here.
Sunglasses :: New Yorker, of course... on sale.

So, as you can see, we can be chic with a moderate budget. We only need creativity, but that's not a problem because we have the blogosphere, a great source of inspiration. Am I right or am I right?

Let it be skirts

It's such a privilege to be a woman and be able to wear skirts, isn't it? Especially now when the weather is getting warmer and warmer.
I remember when I was little I was so ashamed to wear skirts because my legs were so skinny and now I can't get enough of them.

This is my second colourful skirt outfit, this month, and I assure you it won't be the last. Spring is my favorite season and finally after a long, long winter, I feel inspired.

Now tell me about you? How do you feel about the Spring up to now?

Happy mother's day

Today, as you all may know, is the International Women's Day.

Since I was little, as far as I know, the 8th of March has also been Mother's Day.
I always thought it as a special day for mothers and I'm so happy that the little guy from the pictures below has given me, for the past three years and a half, the chance to be special.

Raising him until now has been a challenge from many points of view, but on the other hand who said it would be easy to raise a child?
It's damn hard, but you know what? It totally worth.

I love him from the bottom of my heart and I promise to myself that I will lose my last breath to make him a strong, independent and loving MAN, someday.

I'm in the army now

These photos were taken yesterday, while walking with my husband, along the Danube river.
Now, while I'm writing, he is on his way to Indonesia. Yes, you read it correctly, I N D O N E S I A. He is going to be there for a while and it hurts my soul to know him so far away.

On the other hand I'm happy for him because he has this great opportunity to see such an exotic country. For those of you who don't know the direct distance between Romania and Indonesia is 10000km and he has to change 3 airplanes to get there.

But enough about sad personal stuff, let's talk about the outfit. I'm a very big fan of military style, as you you've already seen here, and it came so natural to combine again some pieces of clothing into a military look. This is actually a trend I think we will see a lot during this year and that's why I allowed myself to give you some suggestions.

The 1st of March was a beautiful day. The weather was perfect and I felt inspired, I felt happy, I felt alive. And the list of how I felt can go on and on. How did you feel?

Spring is my favorite season of all and to be honest I can hardly wait to see and smell the blossom trees. Just thinking about it gives me the chills.

I embraced the first day of Spring with a colorful outfit which brought me a lot of compliments.
I only have to hope that you, my dear readers, will like it too and find it at least inspiring.

P.S. Thanks to all the participants to the leopard print bag giveaway, it means a lot to me that you liked it. This time, the GIVEAWAY WINNER is chocolatefashioncoffee. Congratulations, I will be waiting an email with your mailing address.

I'm so sorry I didn't have a bag for all the participants, but, if it's any consolation, in a few days I will be launching a NEW GIVEAWAY, so... stay very close, maybe you will be the next lucky winner.
